Precisely. Now with the elections over, I seriously hope and pray good things will be in store for us, the musically talented, over the next five years......
as an audience, i think that the malaysian showbiz lacks somewhat brandpower.as in when people think malaysian singers and actors, the reaction won't be like when they hear of hollywood artistes..
I agree that the Malaysia's music industry is totally sinking down the drain. It's either "wanna-bes" or "copy-cats". It's really hard to find a group or singer that has his/her own signature or trademark. They accept the influence from the western singers in the wrong way. It's either the looks or the popularity rate that makes the person an "artist". Even our film industry isn't doing to good. The things that are wrong with Malaysian movies is either it's too sappy, copy-cat, down-right boring, not inspirational, bad quality, and just weird. I wish the directors and script writers would think outside the box and not be confound by fear and afraid of trying something new. Even movies can play a role in improving the society, especially the ones called "sampah-masyarakat".
I am speaking from the view of a musician. I'm not saying that I'm superbly good in what I do, but it's just that there has to be more opportunities! Yes, more opportunities for talented ones! With chances to show their true colors, talented musicians/vocalists/performers can bring Malaysia to a higher level of showmanship.
Hey listen up... We heard Psychedelices is already released. Heard you're getting their album in January... so when will our people be like you-know-who ? We all heard you singing and stuff... and you're good.
And one more thing - forget about the 1000 donkeys in your school who hate you because of you singing French pop with a lot of expression, exactement comme Alizee on dirait - they just don't appreciate the music. It's simple. That's how it is over here. Your close friends adored you ; that's all that matters.
Stores should sell the original cds ( foreign ones) at a lower price. 11 x 3.3 is not RM 50.
As for downloading and buying pirated copies, downloading a couple of songs off the album is no harm but don't download the WHOLE ALBUM. If you like some of the songs then buy it.
Looks like your words were really powerful, whazoole. They're having a crackdown on downloads ! 250 gram or jail time (I'm not sure how long, but it's best to avoid it !). I even took away my Limewire just to be safe.
Ohmigosh. Alizee and Noir Desir are soooooooo much better. Come on la, what happened to our Malaysia Boleh attitude ? If Malaysia can send her first Angkasawan into space, what is a world-renowned artiste and a really good music industry ? After all, lest we forget that music is the language of our youth.........
I think that Malaysia showbiz is kinda dying. Most of the talented ones are migrating over to other countries to develop their careers in music industries.I don't think that Thailand or Indonesia's entertainment industry is above our par. Malaysia singer's especially chinese singers(not biased here cause there are a lots of chinese talented singer)are still ok and some cast like Michelle Yeoh is not bad. However, Malaysia's movies definitely sucks.
It's true Malaysian showbiz is dying. All of our artist are like the same, no new artist breakthrough. We need a better showbiz because it helps in promoting Malaysia. I swear it does promote the country. Even Thailand's or Indonesia's entertainment industry is better than us
